Welcome to Buenos Aires! On arrival at the airport, a transfer is included to your hotel located in the city’s theatre and shopping district. Buenos Aires is a city of contrasts and character and thrives as the cultural and political heart of Argentina, full of energy, passion, and resilience.

This evening at 6:00PM, meet your Tour Leader in the hotel foyer for a welcome meeting and an overview of the days ahead. Kick off your adventure with a welcome drink at a cozy local bar in BA. the perfect start to your South America journey.

 
Buenos Aires

Start with a panoramic city tour of Buenos Aires. Drive down the grand 9 de Julio Avenue to admire the Colón Opera House the soaring Obelisk, Plaza de Mayo, and colourful houses in La Boca then to trendy Palermo with its leafy streets. End in the elegant neighbourhood of Recoleta to visit its world-famous cemetery, resting place of Eva Perón and a memorable lunch at the delightful Evita Museum Restaurant. Remainder of the day is free to wander and explore the city on your own or take in a dinner and tango show in San Telmo at Al Alijebe (extra cost)

Buenos Aires - Iguazu Falls

Transfer to Buenos Aires Airport for your flight to Iguazu. On arrival, cross the border into Brazil and continue to your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu. Over the next two days, you’ll explore the mighty Iguazu Falls—275 cascading waterfalls set amid lush rainforest, offering unforgettable views from both the Argentine and Brazilian side.

Iguazu Falls – Argentina side

Today, cross to Puerto Iguazú to explore the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Walk the park’s trails for views from both above and below the cascades, then stand at the edge of the thundering Devil’s Throat for an unforgettable experience. For the more adventurous, take a boat ride to the base of the falls (extra cost), After your visit, return to your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu.

Iguazu Falls – Brazil side – Rio de Janeiro

After breakfast, take in the sweeping panoramic views of the cascades from the Brazilian side of the falls. Later, transfer to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival, you’ll be taken to your hotel near the city’s world-famous beaches. This evening, join your Tour Leader for an orientation walk through the neighbourhood, with tips and recommendations for the next couple of days

Rio De Janeiro

This morning, set out on a half-day tour of exciting Rio. Ride the cog train through the lush Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain and take in the sweeping views from Christ the Redeemer—one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Continue with a panoramic drive past the iconic Maracanã Stadium (exterior view), the historic Lapa Arches, and the colourful Selarón Steps. Then follow Aterro do Flamengo, passing city landmarks and beaches, before stopping for a memorable lunch at Refettorio Gastromotiva – this welcoming dining experience serves up delicious, sustainable meals with a social impact. After this rewarding experience, return to your hotel and enjoy a free afternoon to relax or explore more.

Rio De Janeiro

Enjoy a free day to relax and make the most of Rio at your own pace. Rio de Janeiro - Lima, Peru

Early start today as you say goodbye to your Brazilian Tour Leader at the airport and fly from Rio to Lima, Peru’s vibrant capital known for its world-class cuisine, rich history, and coastal charm. On arrival, meet your Peruvian Tour Leader who will accompany you for the rest of your journey. Settle into your hotel in the Miraflores district, your base for the next two nights.

This afternoon join your Tour Leader for an orientation walk through Miraflores. Visit Kennedy Park, stroll along Larco Avenue, and take in the ocean views from Larcomar and the romantic Love Park. Along the way, enjoy a taste of Peru with a traditional sandwich and a glass of their beloved local herbal tea. The evening is free to enjoy on your own and dine at the many renown restaurants of Lima or dine at the Huaca Pucllana Restaurant (extra cost)

Lima

This morning, explore Lima’s historic centre—recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Begin with a panoramic view of the pre-Inca Pucllana Pyramid before heading into the colonial centre to see the Plaza Mayor, Cathedral, Government Palace, and City Hall. Visit the impressive San Francisco Convent, known for its baroque architecture and see the dark eerie catacombs. The afternoon is free—you might like to explore the bohemian Barranco district, known for its colourful streets, art, colonial mansions, and lively bars serving up Peru’s famous pisco cocktails.

Amazon Lodge 

Today, pack down to a small soft bag or backpack for your two-night stay in the Amazon. In Puerto Maldonado, drop off your main luggage in a safe and secure place, then transfer to the local pier and board a motorised canoe for a scenic journey along the river to your jungle lodge.

The ride to your eco-lodge in the Madre de Dios region takes a few hours, with a pause for lunch on route. Once you arrive, settle into your thatched-roof lodge and head out on a short walk to discover your surroundings. As night falls, breathe in the earthy scents of the rainforest and let the magic of this remote wilderness sink in.  This evening search for nocturnal animals on a night boat ride.

Amazon Lodge

Prepare for an adventure and join your local naturalist guide for a half day trek through the lush rainforest, where you’ll discover the fascinating world of native plants—many of which have been used for generations by Indigenous communities for both healing and daily life. As you wander the trails, watch for macaws and butterflies, and listen closely for the distinctive calls of peccaries and the lively chatter of monkeys overhead. This region is also home to elusive creatures like capybaras, giant otters, and jabirus—so stay alert! After returning to the lodge, enjoy a well-earned lunch and some downtime. When night falls, set off again for a walk under the stars, on the lookout for the jungle’s more secretive nocturnal wildlife.

Sacred Valley

Return to Puerto Maldanado airport for your flight to Cusco and continue to the Sacred Valley, one of the most beautiful and historically important parts of Peru. Several of the Inca’s finest works were built in this region. On the way have a short visit to Sacsayhuaman fortress and admire the perfection and placement of the large rocks built for this fortress.

Sacred Valley of the Incas

Begin your day with a visit to a traditional Andean community, where you’ll learn ancient weaving techniques and see llamas and alpacas— deeply woven into the cultural heritage of the region. Enjoy a homemade lunch supporting the locals.

In the afternoon, set off on a gentle downhill hike along a historic section of the old Inca Trail. Descend 8km with a leisurely three-hour hike from the highland village of Chinchero to the peaceful valley of Urquillos. Along the way, take in the views of the Sacred Valley and admire the Poc Poc waterfall before returning to your hotel for a well-earned rest.

Train to Machu Picchu – Agua Calientes

Sit back and take in the views as you travel on by train to the magnificent ancient Incan citadel of Machu Picchu in modern comfort. The train has wide glass windows built into the roof and sides of the carriages so you to see the rich Peruvian countryside rushing by.  Arrive at Agua Calientes, a small town in time for lunch. Then continue the ascent by coach to the lost city of Machu Picchu.  Our guide will bring it to life, detailing the history and mysteries around the ancient Incan ruins.  Return in the afternoon and stay overnight in Agua Calientes.

Ollantaytambo - Cusco

This morning, board the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, a remarkable example of Incan urban planning and one of the few sites where the Incas resisted Spanish conquest. Explore the impressive ruins and admire the massive stone terraces before stopping at a local chichería to sample chicha, a traditional Andean maize beer, and learn about its cultural roots.

Then continue by coach to Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city. Over the next few days, you’ll uncover its history, colonial charm, bustling markets, and archaeological wonders.

Cusco

Step into the living history of Cusco on a guided walking tour through its most iconic sights. Begin with a visit to Qoricancha temple, dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, one of the most sacred sites of the Inca Empire. Continue to the Plaza de Armas, the heart of the city then uphill to the San Cristobal viewpoint for panoramic views and enjoy a light Andean-snack. Continue through the artisan district of San Blas via the colourful 7 Borreguitos Street, and finish at the Twelve-Angle Stone.  This afternoon time to explore more of Cusco at your own pace.

Full day to explore on your own or join an optional hike to the colourful rainbow mountain (extra cost) Set off early for those who choose a full-day adventure to Rainbow Mountain, one of Peru’s most striking natural wonders. At the summit you’ll be greeted by the mountain’s colourful mineral-rich stripes and panoramic views. A challenging hike for an incredible experience that reaches 4900m

In the evening, dinner is included at a cozy restaurant overlooking the main square, known for its contemporary Peruvian cuisine.

Puno

Today we follow the route of the sun as we travel by coach from Cusco to Puno. This is a full day trip with stops on the way, visiting a 17th century church, the Raqchi ruins and colonial town of Pucara. On the way, stop at La Raya the highest mountain pass at 4352m for a photo stop to admire the views of the Andean landscape.  Lunch is included at a local restaurant.  At the end of the day arrive in Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

Lake Titicaca

Today, you’ll explore Lake Titicaca – the highest lake in altitude that is deep and large enough for boats to use. Cruise across its shimmering waters to visit the Uros Floating Islands, where locals still live by ancient customs on islands made entirely of reeds. Then continue to Llachon, a welcoming lakeside community. Spend time with local families, try a few Quechua phrases, and join in daily village life—including farming and fishing. You might take part in a casual soccer match if you’re up for it or simply relax with the community and soak in the stunning lake views before heading back to your hotel in Puno.

Payment
A first deposit from $499 per person is required to secure your booking. A second deposit (partial payment) is due 10 months before departure – the amount to be advised at the time of booking. Children

Surcharges may apply for select travel periods and departure cities. Prices are correct at time of publication and are subject to availability, change, cancellation, or withdrawal without notice. All prices are in Australian dollars per person twin share unless stated otherwise.     

Tipping 
Tipping for the tour leader and driver is discretionary but strongly recommended as a gesture of appreciation for the service and local insight provided throughout the tour. It is customary to tip the tour leader and driver at the end of the tour an amount from 12 AUD per person per day.  

Passport
Each customer must provide a copy of the passport photo page at the time of booking. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that all names are provided in full and exactly match the passport details, which must be valid for at least six months beyond the trip completion date. The customer is liable for any fees incurred due to incorrect names, invalid passport information, or expired passports.  

Visas
All visa requirements are subject to change. Visa requirements for each origin and destination country are the responsibility of the customer to check and obtain (if required) with the local consulate or embassy. The customer is liable for all visa application costs and fees due to the failure to obtain the required travel documents.

Travellers who are not Australian citizens must check with their respective consulate or visa agency to determine their specific visa and identification requirements. 

Argentina
Australian passport holders – as a tourist, you can stay for up to 90 days without a visa, but you’ll need evidence that you intend to depart the country within the 90 days, for example:  a return or onward ticket. All international travellers to Argentina must hold valid travel insurance with medical coverage. This insurance may be requested and verified upon arrival in the country.

Brazil
You will need a visa to enter Brazil. You won’t be able to obtain a visa at the airport or border entry permit. For more information contact an embassy or consulate of Brazil.  Details for the visa https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/embaixada-camberra/English/consular-section/visas/short-term-visas-for-stays-up-to-90-days/e-visa.    Entry and exit conditions may change without warning. Follow the advice of border and health authorities and comply with local regulations. Contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Brazil, or airline for more information.   

Peru
Australian passport holders as a tourist, do not need a visa. You can get a permit to stay for up to 90 days when you arrive. You may need a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Peru. Some airlines may want to see one when you leave. If you’ve visited Peru in the previous 6 days, you’ll need a valid certificate to enter Australia. Find out about returning to Australia after exposure to yellow fever.   

Chile (adding a stopover)
Australian passport holders as a tourist, you can stay for up to 90 days without a visa. When going through Immigration, you’ll be given a tourist card. You must keep this card, as it will be requested at departure. If you lose it, you’ll have to request a new one from Immigration, and your departure from Chile may be delayed. 

United States (Transiting)  
If travelling on an Australian passport, an ESTA (visa waiver) for the USA is a strict requirement when travelling to or flying through the USA. Once a USA ESTA visa waiver is issued it is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires (whichever is sooner) and will allow multiple entries into the USA. Deviation  
Stopover package in Santiago and extra nights in Buenos Aires at the start of the tour are not subject to the deviation fee (applicable airfare and tax difference may still apply) if booked according to the original advertised dates and routing. Any request to deviate from above and the routing, including early arrival and stay behind, is subject to a flight deviation fee from $150 per person plus applicable airfare and tax difference. 

Health 
Comprehensive travel insurance is required, with COVID-19 coverage strongly recommended.  
All international travellers to Argentina must hold valid travel insurance with medical coverage. This insurance may be requested and verified upon arrival in the country.
All travellers need to be in good physical health to participate fully on this trip for the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others. Prior to travel consult your doctor for up-to-date medical travel information or for any necessary vaccinations and medication before departure. If you are carrying medication, ensure you check foreign travel advice for any local restrictions or requirements and keep medication in their original packaging. 

High Altitude 
Travelling in high altitude in Peru will affect some travellers, with no apparent regard to age, gender or physical condition. Yellow Fever
A valid international certificate of vaccination against Yellow Fever is required in many countries. You may need to present this on arrival at the airport or border crossing. Some countries will refuse entry if you are unable to present your certificate. It’s also common for your home country to request a Yellow Fever certificate upon arrival. You must check with your doctor well before leaving home about the Yellow Fever requirements for the countries you’ll be visiting.   

Malaria, Dengue and Zika
In the Amazon region, conditions can be humid and buggy. To reduce the risk of insect-borne illnesses such as dengue, malaria and zika, we recommend bringing strong insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants in the outdoors.  Consult your doctor before leaving about the requirements. 

Baggage
Each person is entitled to a strict maximum of one bag not exceeding 20kg on tour, superseding any other baggage allowance. Excess baggage is not permitted. You are strongly encouraged to pack lightly. A light day bag or backpack is permitted on the coach ( Upto 7 Kgs). Porterage is not included, and you are required to carry your own bags. Luggage and personal effects are your own risk, and we hold no liability for lost or damaged belongings.  

A soft overnight bag or backpack is required for your stay at the Amazon Lodge and for the train journey to Machu Picchu, as large suitcases are not permitted (max 8kg).  There are no luggage compartments on the trains to Machu Picchu. 

Meals  
Please notify us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements and allergies. We will pass on your requirements but cannot guarantee that they can be met as certain choices may be limited or not catered for.   

Accommodation  
Our hotels names provided are a guide to the standard you can expect. Hotels are subject to change and final hotel details will be confirmed in your documentation 30 days prior to departure.  Twin and Double are subject to availability. Twin rooms are typically two single beds  

Transfers
Airport transfers are included on arrival in Buenos Aires the day the tour starts. A group transfer is included from the Puno hotel to the Juliaca airport on Day 20. If you plan to depart from Puno and deviate from the main scheduled group transfer, we’re happy to assist with arranging a private transfer—please note this will incur an additional cost. 

Documentation
Final documentation will be emailed 30 days prior to departure.  

Travel Insurance  
Travel insurance is not included and required for this tour package.  Ask our holiday experts for great coverage options.    

Flights
The flights included in your package are based on a specific predetermined airfare allowance. Should there be a significant increase in airfares, fuel surcharges, taxes, or government fees at the time of booking flights, then an airfare supplement may be imposed. The flights team will discuss options with you prior to ticketing, should this situation arise. Flights may not operate daily or directly to your destination. No show of any flight sectors will result in the automatic cancellation of all onward flights by the airline.  

Flights in South America 
Exploring the diverse countries and regions of South America involves several flights as part of your tour package. Some flights may have early departures, schedule changes, or occasional delays. Your Tour Leader will accompany you on all internal flights, except for the leg from Rio to Lima. In Rio, your Tour Leader will see you off at the airport, and upon arrival in Lima, you’ll be welcomed by your local Peruvian Tour Leader. They will accompany you for all onward flights—including to the Amazon—and throughout your journey to Puno. 

Preparation: Visas, Documents and Medical Advise 
It is your responsibility to be travel-ready and ensure that you comply with all destination and airline requirements, including the validity of your passport, vaccinations and any required travel documents. Travellers who are not Australian citizens must check with their respective consulate or visa agency to determine their specific visa and identification requirements.  

 3 months prior to departure  

  • Make sure your passport is valid for 6 months after the last travel date.  
  • Full Passport details are required 120 days prior to departure to issue flights in South America and to purchase your Machu Picchu tickets and they sell out quickly.  

6 weeks prior to departure   

  • begin arranging your visas to allow for any delays due to consulate operating hours.   
  • check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination            you’re entering  
  • consult your doctor or a travel health clinic, for medical advice and recommended vaccinations for travel to South America  
  • Travel insurance is a requirement for this tour, and a copy is required for entry into Argentina. 

Fuel
In the unlikely event of a significant increase in fuel costs levied by third-party air, land and cruise transportation operators before travel, a fuel supplement may be passed on to the customer.  

Group Size
This holiday will proceed with a minimum group size considered optimal for a group tour experience. If the tour does not operate, you will be offered a credit. Max group size 20 people. 

Itinerary 
The operating schedule and itinerary may be impacted without notice by adverse weather, seasonal factors, closures, local conditions, COVID-19, or other factors beyond our control including force majeure. If attractions are not available due to reasons beyond our control such as closures or adverse weather, further changes may be necessary to your itinerary once in-country. Alternatives will be provided where possible. The itinerary and its order, sightseeing and transportation may be adjusted as deemed appropriate by the operator for optimum safety, enjoyment, and operation. Any reference to ‘optional,’ ‘not included’ or ‘exclusions/excluded’ means at your own expense.  

Change & Cancellation Fees 
Changes for any reason will incur a fee of $110 per person per change in addition to any travel service provider fees. Cancellation for any reason will incur a fee of $550 per person in addition to any travel service provider fees. Travel service provider fees for the tour and air components of the package are dependent on the date of the change or cancellation as follows: 
0-29 days before departure 100% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply; 
30-60 days before departure 65% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply; 
61-99 days before departure 50% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply; 
100-180 days before departure 30% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply; 
181+ days before departure 10% of the tour fee and 100% of the air fee will apply. 

Airfares are generally non-refundable but any refundable ticket taxes will be returned. Full details of the change and cancellation fees is outlined in the Terms & Conditions available on our website. 

Breakaway
Customers must always remain with the tour group and must not leave the tour unless written approval is provided before departure.  

Force Majeure
Force majeure means any natural disaster, accident, fire, act of God, act of war, terrorism, legally binding judgment, injunction, action of a court or other relevant authority, emergency, unplanned repairs, maintenance, strike, industrial dispute, work ban, blockade or picketing, travel ban, pandemic, epidemic or outbreak of infectious disease, or other event beyond our reasonable direct or indirect control. In case of force majeure or other extraordinary event that prevents safe travel, the supplier reserves the right to adjust, postpone or cancel the trip.
